FAQs
For QPPT Speakers
-
Anyone who identifies as queer and has something to deep dive into can apply! You don’t need to be an artist, a comedian, an academic, or a professional speaker. Show us your weird! Check out our past QPPT Speakers here.
-
We have rolling and targeted Expressions of Interest (EOIs). Find out more about those here.
-
You can PowerPoint about literally anything! The more niche the better. Think about the last time you got trapped in an internet void. Think about the special interest topic you bring out at 1am at a party. Queer PowerPoint isn’t really designed for artist talks or purely identity-based presentations - we love these, but QPPT is for something a bit different. This is your opportunity to go full weird and talk about an idea that you would never otherwise be able to. Flex your hyperfixation!
-
A 10-12 minute presentation on whatever your little queer heart desires. We encourage our speakers to be fully scripted and to use presenter notes in PowerPoint to read from. You don’t need to learn your script. In words, this is around 1000 to 1200 words. When making your PowerPoint, we encourage embracing visual language - we’re talking gifs, videos, pictures, animations, word art, all the transitions! This is not a corporate presentation. Design your slides in a way that reflects who you are :)
About the Show
-
Subtly, every show is different, but we tend to follow the same structure. We open doors 30-60 minutes before the first speaker and have a DJ playing while people arrive, grab a drink, have a chat and soak up the cute vibes. Once Xanthe and Harriet kick off with their intro, there are 5-6 powerpoint presentations, with a break in the middle for more DJ/bathroom/drinks/chats.
-
Each PowerPoint takes as long as it takes, so it can vary, but we aim to keep presentations between 10 - 12 minutes, so from doors opening a QPPT event is usually between 2.5 - 3 hours.
-
We do everything we can to make our shows feel like you’re in the living room of a really iconic friend’s house. The audience are encouraged to move around, get up and go to the bar or toilet whenever you need. We really want QPPT to be a space where you can make a new friend, or feel comfortable giving your number to a cutie you're making eyes with at interval.

Queer PowerPoint is committed to improving access to all of our live events. We have included some basic information about this over on our access page here.
